Timber Frame Explained
Timber frame is a very ancient method that has evolved into an advanced technoligy in the modern age. Considerations such as energy saving, build speed, design flexability and enviromental acceptability, have made it the world's most popular method of house building. Research indicates that in the developed world 70% of the population live in timber frame homes.
In North America and Scandinavia it accounts for almost 90% of the market. In Scotland it accounts for 60%. Recent data suggests that in Ireland 25% of all new housing starts are all in timber frame and this percentage is growing rapidly.
In apperance timber frame looks the same as a block built home and similar to the end user but timberframe is light weight, pre-fabricated and highly insulated. The biggest difference between the two is the benefit to the end user - timber frames are cheap and easy to heat and can save up to 40% and in some cases exceed this in savings on heating bills.
